I have shared many air fryer banana recipes on blog like- air fryer banana bread, banana muffins, banana chips etc but this simple quick dessert is the easiest one that you can make in air fryer.
Ingredients you’ll need:
Banana: Use ripe yet firm bananas for air frying. If they are already overripe (with too many black spots), the chances are they would turn too soft after cooking.
Sweetener: I have use brown sugar here but coconut sugar, regular sugar, jaggery powder or dark brown sugar can also be used. The sugar will be used in a very less quantity here as bananas already are naturally sweet.
Oil / Butter: Some oil or melted butter is brushed over banana slices which helps the sugar to melt and gives a lovely glaze. You can use olive oil, coconut oil, avoacado oil or melted butter for richer taste.
Cinnamon: Use good quality cinnamon powder as it is the main aromatic in the recipe. Though the recipe can work with only above mentioned 3 ingredients but cinnamon takes the flavours to next level.
Apart from cinnamon, you can add a pinch of nutmeg or 1/4 tsp of vanilla extract also for flavouring. A pinch of kosher salt can also be sprinkled on bananas for enhancing the sweetness.
Serving Suggestion:
You can enjoy these yummy caramelised bananas as snack as it is or sprinkle some granola, chopped almonds or walnuts on them before serving.
They are great as quick dessert with vanilla ice cream and chocolate chips too. I personally love to drizzle some peanut butter on them.
Apart from this, you can use them as topping on porridge, overnight oats or peanut butter toast. It will also pair well with french toast, waffles, oats pancakes, banana pancakes and crepes etc.

Ingredients:
- Banana (medium)- 2
- Brown Sugar- 3 tsp
- Cinnamon Powder- 1/4 tsp
- Oil / Melted Butter- 2 tsp
- For topping (optional)
- Vanilla Ice Cream
- Granola / Chopped walnuts
Directions:
Step 1:
Peel the bananas and slice them in half vertically. (If you don’t want to use parchment paper later, then don’t even peel them & just slice in half).
Step 2:
Mix together brown sugar and cinnamon in a bowl. (If you want to add little bit of vanilla or nutmeg, add them at this step).
Step 3:
Brush the bananas lightly with oil or melted butter. Sprinkle sugar and cinnamon on each halved banana and lightly press it with back of spoon.
Step 4:
Cut a parchment paper smaller than the size of air fryer basket and make some holes in it (or use perforated parchment paper). Line the air fryer basket with it. Place the sliced bananas on it.
Step 5:
Air fry at 200°C (400°F) for 6-8 minutes till sugar begins to caramelise. Time can vary slightly depending on air fryer model so keep an eye after 6 minutes.
Carefully lift the bananas using a spatula and transfer on a serving plate. Enjoy them as it is or top up with vanilla ice cream or chopped nuts.
Tips:
- Cut the bananas in whatever way you like but try to keep thickness of all banana slices similar for even cooking time.
- You can store leftover air fried bananas in an airtight container for 1-2 days. They can also be enjoyed chilled or reheat them in microwave (for 30-40 seconds) or air fryer (for 1 minute).
- I would not recommend freezing them as on thawing they turn mushy & watery.
